Puppy beds: Cuddle up like the grown-ups

A puppy not only needs love and care, but also a safe and comfortable place to sleep. A dog bed for puppies not only ensures restful nights, but also good physical and mental development.

Which dog beds are suitable for puppies?

Not all dog beds are the same: the needs and preferences are as individual as the pelt-noses themselves. Whether your dog likes to cuddle, curl up or sleep stretched out - we present some of the most popular types of puppy beds that are tailored to small dogs.

Protective puppy caves:

Small dogs love to hide away and relax in a sheltered retreat. A closed puppy bed creates exactly this private space. It shields from external influences, gives your dog a feeling of security and is ideal for anxious and sensitive pets.

Puppy beds with a high edge (donut):

A dog bed with a high edge provides support, conveys a feeling of security and also offers a cosy headrest. Your little four-legged friend will feel safe and cosy here.

High-quality puppy sofas:

A puppy sofa is similar to a dog basket and is a classic and stylish choice for your puppy. This type of dog basket combines stability with comfort. Covered with a cosy dog cushion or blanket, the dog sofa will quickly become your four-legged friend's favourite place.

Orthopaedic dog beds:

Orthopaedic dog beds made of memory foam mould perfectly to the body, relieve pressure on joints and support the spine. They prevent joint problems and muscular tension from puppyhood onwards.

Fluffy puppy blankets:

Flexible, available in many colours, lightweight and versatile; whether on the sofa, in a basket or on the go - puppy blankets not only provide a cosy spot, but are also easy to clean and transport.

Buying a dog bed for puppies - this is important

When buying a dog bed for small dogs or puppies, you should pay attention to the following criteria:

Material: Look for soft, supportive fabrics that are gentle on your puppy's sensitive body.

Care: The bed should be easy to clean and made of allergy-friendly fabrics to provide extra comfort.

Safety: A non-slip underside ensures that the bed remains stable on smooth floors.

Size: The length from the snout to the base of the tail plus 20 cm is the ideal measurement for the dog bed.

FAQ Puppy beds

Many puppy beds have removable covers that you can clean in the washing machine (e.g. covers made of cotton or microfibre). To prolong the life of the bed, pay attention to the care instructions.

Puppies like to observe their surroundings and should therefore be able to keep an eye on the doors from their basket. If the dog basket is placed in a draughty area such as a hallway, colds and eye infections can be the result. Ideally, the puppy bed should be placed in a room where you spend a lot of time (e.g. the living room), as long as there are no constant draughts.

A happy puppy will voluntarily seek out their bed to sleep in it and not look for alternatives such as your sofa. If your dog frequently leaves the bed or seems restless, it could be too hard, too small or uncomfortable.

Place the bed in a quiet place and put a familiar blanket or toy in it that smells like your puppy or his previous sleeping place. Reward him when he uses the bed and show patience if it doesn't work straight away.

Check that the bed is in a quiet place and is the right size and material. Your puppy may not feel safe enough there. Place the bed near you to give him a feeling of security and lure him into it with treats or a toy.
